Tired All the Time? Let’s Talk About Perimenopause Fatigue in Black Women

There’s a specific kind of exhaustion I hear about all the time in my practice. Patients tell me they’re sleeping, trying to push through, doing everything they know to do, and still waking up drained. Then they go looking for answers and feel dismissed, rushed, or told it’s just stress, just age, or just something they have to live with.

I want to say this clearly: if that sounds familiar, it is not all in your head.

Perimenopause fatigue is real, and for many Black women, it can show up earlier, last longer, and hit harder than people expect. It can come with brain fog, poor sleep, mood changes, weight shifts, and that frustrating feeling of not quite feeling like yourself. In many cases, the conversation around these symptoms has been too limited for too long.

Why this feels so heavy

When hormones begin to shift, energy can shift right along with them. Estrogen and progesterone changes can affect sleep, mood, focus, metabolism, and how the body handles stress. That means fatigue during this season is often not caused by one thing alone.

For many women, especially Black women carrying the demands of work, family, caregiving, leadership, and everyday life, the fatigue of perimenopause can feel layered. It’s not just about being tired. It can feel like the body is asking for help while the world expects business as usual.

Research also shows that Black women often experience perimenopausal symptoms earlier and more intensely. Hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, and brain fog can go on for years. And too often, personalized treatment options are not offered quickly enough. That gap matters.

What we do at Hall Health

At Hall Health, we take a different approach. Through direct primary care, we have the time to slow down, ask better questions, and look at the full picture instead of giving a rushed answer.

That matters when someone comes in saying, “I’m exhausted all the time.”

As an energy optimization doctor, I look beyond a surface-level explanation. We may review labs like iron, ferritin, thyroid function, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. We look at sleep, hormones, nutrition, stress, and daily habits. The goal is to understand why energy is low and build a plan that makes sense for real life.

If weight changes are part of the picture, we talk about that too. Our Hattiesburg weight management support is designed for women navigating hormonal shifts, changing metabolism, and the emotional frustration that can come with not recognizing their own bodies. This is not about shame. It is about support, strategy, and sustainable care.

Stress also has to be part of the conversation. A good stress management clinic should do more than tell women to “relax.” We work on practical ways to reduce the wear and tear that chronic stress puts on the body, because high stress can absolutely make fatigue worse.

Why direct primary care helps

One of the biggest problems in traditional healthcare is time. Many women dealing with perimenopause fatigue need space to talk through symptoms that have been building for months or years. They need someone to connect the dots.

That is one reason I believe so strongly in direct primary care.

Our membership model gives patients:

  • Unlimited doctor visits

  • Direct text and email access

  • No co-pays

  • Flat monthly pricing

  • No waiting rooms

  • More time to be heard

When care is built around relationship instead of red tape, it becomes much easier to get to the root of fatigue, weight changes, stress overload, and low energy.

If this sounds like you

If you have been feeling worn down, foggy, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself, it may be time to take a closer look at what your body is trying to say. Perimenopause fatigue does not have to be brushed aside, and support should not feel hard to access.

At Hall Health, we help women work through the full picture with personalized care that may include lab evaluation, lifestyle support, Hattiesburg weight management, stress care, and a realistic plan for feeling better. The goal is not perfection. The goal is relief, clarity, and steady progress.

Join us at the Peri Party Brunch

If this topic hits home, the Peri Party Brunch is a natural next step.

On July 11, 2026, we’re gathering for Peri Party Brunch – A Women’s Wellness Experience to talk honestly about perimenopause, fatigue, hormones, and what support can actually look like. It’s a chance to learn, ask questions, and be in community with other women who get it.

The theme says it best: “It’s not you, it’s Peri.”

A few common questions

What is perimenopause fatigue?

Perimenopause fatigue is ongoing low energy connected to hormonal changes, often made worse by sleep disruption, stress, and metabolic shifts.

Why choose direct primary care for fatigue?

Because direct primary care gives us more time to look deeper. Instead of a rushed visit, we can explore root causes, review labs carefully, and create a plan that fits the patient in front of us.

Is weight gain connected to fatigue?

Yes. Hormonal changes can affect metabolism, body composition, and inflammation. That can make both fatigue and weight changes harder to manage without the right support.
